Psych & Psych

This was in Digital Arts Magazine, October 2012 edition. The design is for a website for Psych & Psych and was done by "We Are Section" which is a company based in Singapore.

The idea was to have many different "problems" shown on the page, and then the person browsing would just click on the appropriate one. I like that the color palette is soothing which makes sense when dealing with psychological issues. Also, each set of images match up well with their respective topics.

Cool Poster Design

This week I thought I would include a poster design that caught my eye. I thought the way the fishing boat was drawing was pretty cool. They are depicting it as a sharp toothed monster eating all the fish out of the ocean. They even have the two props on the back like eyes over the gaping mouth.

This design was by Joe Scorsone & Alice Drueding, sdposters.com, and was in CMYK Magazine in Volume 52.

Food Addiction

I thought that these designs were quite interesting in the way it shows how bad some foods are for you. They are almost like addictions.

These designs were done for the Department of Health and Human Services by the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, CA. They appeared in CMYK Magazine, Volume 52.

Black Hand Bakery

These photos really caught my eye. They have an ap design on the top and then two cake examples underneath.
Can you imagine getting one of these?
What a way to break bad news.
These were designed for Black Hand Bakery by the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, CA.
I found these in CMYK magazine, Volume 52.

Sketch to Final Product

This week I chose some artwork from Igor Scekic. The one at the top is his initial sketch and the one on the bottom is his final rendition. If you look at the the October 2012 edition of Digital Arts magazine, he has the step-by-step process that he went through to get from before to after.

His designs are very fantastical and fun, usually with bright colors and odd subjects. There are many of his pieces on the web if you just search his name "Igor Scekic".

Cool Packaging

I thought that these were such a cool idea
for individual kids cereal boxes!
The top picture shows the back of the boxes with instructions as to how to cut them out and make little animals that you can play with or stand on a shelf, etc.
The bottom picture shows the front of the boxes with the normal name and descriptions.
These designs were done by Sarah Machicado and were found in CMYK magazine, volume 52.

Some well done designs

The top image is a book cover. It has the "seed" in the middle, roots on the top and a barcode (which deals with the plotline of the book) on the bottom. I just thought it was kind of an interesting combination.

On the bottom are various visual identity pieces for the Bearded Ladies Cabaret. I just thought it was an odd combo that happens to work - the very bold, masculine typography with the very femine silhouette.

I found these in CMYK magazine, volume 52.
